Cite past examples of stressful events. The interviewer, however, is more interested in the manner in which you cope with stress. Explain how you use problem-solving, decision-making or time management skills to reduce stress.

Bring up other techniques you may use to relieve stress such as taking a break, stretching, or making a to-do list. Only say you work better under pressure if it's actually a true statement.

I always put things into context. It may seem like the biggest problem in the world at the moment, but time will pass and even the most painful/stressful moments will just become a distant memory. That being said, I focus on alleviating the stress and not letting it get the best of me (being nonfunctional and giving into helplessness & self pity).

Some stressful moments in my life were times when I was forced to be "responsible" and not run with my emotions. For example, my mother had gotten into a huge car accident but I was midway into Finals Week with obligations to work. I couldn't drop everything, even though that's what my heart wanted to do. In moments like that, I feel that prayers (non-religious) and keeping to already set-obligations/responsibilities/schedule/plans kept me grounded. If it were any other situation that I could have excused myself out of, I would have.

Day by day, we learn to cope and learn to deal with our high pressured scenarios without self-sacrificing everything we've built ourselves to be.
