Instead of describing an average day, try to recollect a recent work day since you’ll remember it more vividly. The interviewer isn’t stupid. They know that everyday work becomes mundane and tedious, that why you have to show enthusiasm! It’s all about positive attitude. Don’t forget to show how organized and orderly you are by taking them through your day step by step.

“At my previous position, I was an operations analyst that did trade support for an Investment bank, specifically handling Exotic products. I would describe myself as a pretty enduring person who can meet most difficulties and challenges without breaking a sweat. Sometimes this backfires on me, in the sense that people assume that I can finish everything they hand over. I always do my best to perform, prioritizing and figuring out the importance of the different projects assigned, confirming with people upstream and downstream regarding my progress and/or their progress. Sometimes, I am waiting for a certain data to be provided to me so I can finish a task but only come to realize at the end of the day that person went on vacation and I cannot get it done. In those cases, I just give the people who are depending on the information a courtesy "progress check" so that they aren't in the blue like I was (you don't need to create a vicious cycle because someone else did it to you).”
