5. WaterBottleGirl - August 01 2008 (Answer ID: 23)
Don't focus on one more than the other. Both questions and answers are equally important. The employer wants to find out your ability to balance and judge aspects of yourself that may need improvement. Don’t speak of a weakness without knowing the solution, and have taken steps to turn it into strength. Employers have long heard the typical answer of, "I'm a perfectionist" or “I’m a workaholic”, so be original but honest. Remember to show the initiative of change and betterment!
•Sample answer: “My inability to show my true potential in job interview like this one”

Remember, you are still trying to sell yourself and your abilities here. Your weakness should be an honest evaluation of an area in which you lack experience, or need improvement on.
14. Jenn - August 05 2008 (Answer ID: 136)
The above pargraph hit the nail on the head. Do not try to disguise a stregnth as a weakness (I am a workaholic) instead state probm and solution. ex. " I am not really confident using excel but have been working towards getting more comfortable"
15. WaterBottleGirl - August 05 2008 (Answer ID: 142)
It's not that I'm advising on disguising a “strength” for a "weakness". I feel the order of these two changes the whole aspect and its entity. My point was to show the process in which the "weakness" has turned into a neutral or even more progressively, a “strength”.
For example, "I'm a perfectionist" or “I’m a workaholic” is a strength in disguise as a weakness. It really isn’t a serious flaw unless it becomes detrimental to the work. Even then, trying to describe how you are “no longer a perfectionist/workaholic” doesn’t sound too appeasing either.
Give original answers. Jenn was on the right track with her example quote. If you have trouble using excel, mention how you’ve taken progressive steps to “fix” this weakness by computer classes, online forum discussions, etc. But ending it there isn’t enough. To really sell yourself, I recommend that you show that *up, up and beyond* attitude. Like a great selling pitch would be, “I finished my Excel computer class with a 4.0. Now I am proud to say I am more than proficient at Excel.”
16. Luiz - November 18 2008 (Answer ID: 845)
First and formost, brainstorm 1 or 2 days prior to the interview.Nobody's perfect, therefore it's easier to see and realize our strengths & weaknesses on a sheet of paper. I like to start off with my weakness which consists of getting stuck on a task. What am I going to do??? This is where my strength comes into play. I just relax and back up a little or A LOT, then IMPROVISE! There are those who are book smart, and others who are street smart. Be wise and use cliff notes instead. LOL... Bottom line, improvision is just like synonyms. There's usualy more than one way to get the job done.

19. Banana - November 27 2008 (Answer ID: 892)
think my greatest weakness is that I am introverted and quiet. I never got a job offer when I said that as my answer though. Even when I said it made me a good listener and able to hear others opinions. Similar questions also hurt me in performance reviews. I'll never answer this question truthfully again.

Possible weaknesses: project closure frustration, I don't like making mistakes even though I understand that they can be necessary, I don't like to see bullying in the workplace and I find myself supporting the weak through sympathy... but then follow up by saying, "but thats life isn't it. I believe its important to understand your weaknesses so that you can overcome them effectively."

I am able to prioritize and organize.I have leadership skills, though my ability to work under pressure may vary at time depending on the task at hand and amount of time a help given, I have a great bit professionalism as well.
48. sg - March 16 2010 (Answer ID: 4449)
I can tolerate employees who under-perform due to reason other than lack of attitude/approach/carelessness. In short repeated irresponsible behaviour at a responsible position/task is simply unacceptable to me and puts me off and away from such employees/colleagues/subordinates once I have exhausted my quota of trying my patience. For example I would be unsure and scared to delegate important tasks to such a person as I would not like to repent later, which is another weakness I have that I hate to be sorry for someone else’s carelessness.
