This is a “continuous learning” question. The employer wants to see that you are self-motivated and aspiring for bigger and better things. Do keep in mind that this is still an interview question, so relate it back to the job on hand but talk about the growth within the company that you are looking forward to.

•“I am interested in long-term commitment and stability. This is a position that I’ve had my eyes on for awhile, and as long as it provides me with the opportunity to grow within the company, I would love to stay here and make it my future career path. I’m confident that when given the chance to prove my fully-qualified skills, you will agree that I am a great investment for this company now and in the future as well.”

4. Marie - February 18 2011 (Answer ID: 5563)
I recently had my first and second interviews. They made me the 5 year question in my firt interview. I did my research before so I knew before-hand what answer the interviewers were looking for. They want to know if you plan to stay in the company for a long time or if you just want a short term experience. My answer was similar to the one WaterBottleGirl posted, I think that one is excellent. I just want to say that no matter how prepared you are for the interview, nerves are always a negative factor, they can cost you your job opportunity. Go with CONFIDENCE, CONTROL, SECURITY and always try to look your interviewer in the eye. If you are in a room, stand up when the interviewer enters and give him or her a handshake introducing yourself with a smile. Always ask questions, this shows your interest in the company, look up information about the company so you can tell why you want to work there. If you quit your last job for whatever reason without having another job, expect the question: "Why did you quit without having another job". That is a though and tricky one. The most important thing is that if you had problems with your last boss, don't talk negative about him, keep it positive. Internet is a great place to prepare for the interview process, It helped me a lot. The same day I had my second interview in one of the best law firms where I live, my interviewer told me they wanted to make me an offer. So, my adivse is preparation and confidence. Ciao!

Well, I see myself working and building a career together with your company. Maybe I will be in your shoes, doing this kind of job, but I’m not saying that I want to take your job. What I mean is that maybe you will get promoted to a higher and better position, and that position will be available. Since I am good candidate for that position, I might be able to take that job.
