Do not describe a job so far removed from the one you are trying to get currently. Stay on the same page.

“My dream job would be a job where I enjoy the work, get along with the people, contribute to the success of the company, and doesn’t place a limit to my professional growth.”

Do you think this is a good answer to the question?

The best way to avoid this catch 22 is to respond generically: "My dream job is a job where...I wake up in the morning and can't wait to get to work, I am truly passionate about what I do, I can make a difference in one person's life, etc."

***TRICK QUESTION*** Do not answer.

Say something like.."All the companies I have been interviewing with have their own strengths and weaknesses. A job is really what YOU can make it once you start. I think that an opportunity to work at this organization is one of the best options currently available to me."
Do you think this is a good answer to the question?

Do not be overly specific, like illustrating the job you are applying for or describing another position. Be general and say something like jobs where you like the people and work.

It's a safe bet that your dream job is not the one you are currently applying for. That does not mean it is okay to describe another job. Describe specific traits you would like your "dream job" to have and slip in a few that your current job is offering. Though the employer doesn't expect you to stay at this position forever, they need to be assured that you aren't in a different field all together.

6. Jacob - August 18 2008 (Answer ID: 323)
Do not give a definite answer. If you say it is the job you are applying for, your credibility is at risk. If you say it is another job, your intentions to stay at the company may be questioned if hired.
